Concert in the Sky at Montage Deer ValleyLast weekend, we had the pleasure of attending Montage Deer Valley’s inaugural “Concert in the Sky.”  The sold out performance featured rock bands Guster and O.A. R., and the hotel was turned into an amphitheater for the night, taking advantage of the dramatic setting that gave guests a 75-mile viewpoint down into the Park City valley.

Guests with VIP tickets were able to enjoy a delicious casual dinner, complimentary open bar and views of the stage from the grand terrace at Montage Deer Valley.  Many guests booked a room facing the lawn and had the opportunity to order room service while watching the concert.

The bands played on a full-blown stage that measured 40-feet-by-40 feet.  Guests were also unexpectedly “treated” to a spectacular lightning show as a thunder storm rolled in, delaying O.A. R.’s performance by several minutes.

According to Montage Deer Valley’s director of sales, Kurt Diekhoff, the idea for hosting the concert was planted before the resort was built at Deer Valley.  It took about three years to work out some of the logistics.  Montage Deer Valley is planning to offer more concerts like this one, and there is speculation that the resort will be offering a series of 12 concerts.  We’ll keep you posted as we get more information.
